Deerooven Pavaday is a visual artist from Mahebourg, Mauritius. His work explores the tension
between the natural world and human adaptation, questioning how we interact with our
environment.
His process is site-specific. He allows the landscape and the people he meets to dictate his
materials. This "encounter" ensures that every mixed-media piece is a direct response to its
surroundings.
In 2025, his work shifted toward organic forms. Starting with sketches of roots and rocks, he
began building installations that bridge the gap between what he sees in nature and how his
mind interprets those structures.
Pavaday studied for three years at the School of Fine Arts (SFA). He has further developed his
craft through "resistances" and collaborative residencies with both local and international artists.
His recent exhibitions include 'pARTage' (2023), 'Rezidan Moka' (2025), and 'Fil ROUGE'
(2025). Through these projects, he exports his vision of cultural and environmental adaptation to
a global audience
